CALA Homes North Home Counties has become the first homebuilder to be given the go-ahead for new homes at Wintringham, an exciting new community which forms part of the new Eastern Gateway to St Neots.

Huntingdonshire District Council has granted planning approval for 222 homes, including affordable properties, landscaping and amenity space.

The development, situated on land south of Cambridge Road, will comprise a mix of two, three and four bed homes, and one and two bed apartments. The homes will blend traditional and contemporary design in an attractive setting with light and spacious interiors.

In keeping with the overall vision for the development, the CALA scheme will create an attractive setting for both new residents and surrounding neighbours, creating green corridors to connect people to two new parks and play areas. Construction is proposed to start in July this year, with the development set to launch in May 2020.

Wintringham is a brand new community being delivered by master planners Urban&Civic. Outline planning permission was granted in November 2018 for 2,800 homes, two primary schools, community facilities, including a health centre and business space for R&D, creative space, offices and industrial units.

Phillip Wright, Head of Planning and Design at CALA Homes North Home Counties, said: “We have worked closely and collaboratively with local planners to create a high quality scheme that meets the needs and aspirations of both future residents and the existing local community.

CALA is a premium homebuilder with a strong track of delivering quality developments in Cambridgeshire and we are delighted to be leading the way in delivering an exciting new community at Wintringham.

Tim Leathes, Development Director for Urban&Civic, said: “This is an important milestone for Wintringham and a significant step forward in realising our vision for the development. CALA shares our passion for delivering a vibrant new community and we’re delighted that they will be among the first homebuilders to bring forward new homes.

Following our planning permission in November, we have already started to put the infrastructure into place to enable new homes and facilities such as the first Primary School to be delivered and we look forward to welcoming our first residents next year.
